Card Games

I spent a good part of this weekend playing card games. Friday, I learned a new game called Tichu (four player version). It’s a very interesting game, and I recommend giving it a try. Saturday, I finally played poker again, for the first time in a long time. I didn’t do terribly well, but it was still a lot of fun. Hopefully, I’ll be able to convince people to keep it up, and play at least every other week or so. I think once a week might be too much.

Today, I didn’t get up early and get to the bowling alley at 9am like I wanted to, but I pretty much expected that after getting home after two this morning. There was a PWBA event at Zodo’s here in Santa Barbara this weekend, and I didn’t get to it either day. I would have like to see part of a professional bowling even, but I’m not too upset about it. I’m sure I’ll get another chance at some point.

I have no idea what I’m going to do the rest of the day… maybe attempt a little bit of packing for my move in a month. I don’t really need to start so early, but it’s not like I have anything better to do at the moment.

euchre is a great game for killing time, but it seems to be really localized to Indiana and bleeds out a bit into neighboring states, but not much

I’ve played Euchre with people from all over… it’s not hugely popular anywhere, but I don’t think it’s a localized phenomenon, given that I ran into it at college in PA and with mutual friends of Alan’s in CA.
