I’ve gone completely insane, and now have far too much money tied up in rebates. I’ve gotta cut down and wait to receive some of them before doing any more of it… but there’s at least one person who is crazier than I am:
That much stuff, for $180 after rebate, is just insane. Of course, it’s like $1200 in rebates. I don’t have quite that much tied up… yet. I do have a nice new 120GB hard drive on the way, though, and more blank CDs than I know what to do with. Hell, one spindle of 50 is more than I know what to do with. I also got $25 of free postage (and a free 5lb digital scale) from stamps.com to send all these rebates in. It’s really cool, I can just print postage directly on envelopes in my printer. Just have to remember to cancel before the 29 day trial is up… unless I actually start using the mail enough to warrant the monthly fee. I doubt it.

I just had a buddies hard drive fail ONE DAY out of warranty. I guess we’ll be looking at rebates tomorrow.

That’s what I figured, but after reading the comments I thought about it again and figured that, yeah, it could be taken that way too.

I have the same disease – I am not sure it is as bad. There should be a self help group for people like us! Its addicting to say the least!

Heh, I just ran across this while searching for rebate deals on google.
I’m seriously wondering (this is someone you know?) out of those $1200 worth of rebates, how many of them actually came through.
I’m all for rebate deals, in fact I love sites like FreeAfterRebate.info, but I couldn’t even imagine putting $1200 worth of trust in rebates. Wow.
Rebates are nice but they take MONTHS to get.. and about 30% of the time they never come.. You have to figure that too..

I have done close to $1200 if not more. I have all my records from it and all have paid, although I have about $150 pending. Examples: dymo labeler $69 free after rebate. Video firewire connection and software $50 free after rebate. Learn Spanish $50 free after rebate. Cell my cell phones have been better than free after rebate. How fun it is. Todd
Every week my sister, that lives in Calif and I, that lives in Idaho check out the Walgreen, Rite Aid and other rebates to get for the week while chatting online. We love figuring out the best buys and have saved money and got lots of free things. Our cupboards are full and we are still looking for deals.
Just wanted to say watch out for stamps.com!!! I did the same thing and after I canceled they said I didn’t and kept charging the card…finally I just had my credit card number changed so they couldn’t do it again. Then they started sending letter threatening to take me to collections. I did some research and found there were 1000’s of others that they did that to. Just wanted to give you the heads up on that one!
