Dear best customers,

Screw you.

Love,

And, no, I’m not switching to DirecTV: HD Local Channels: High-definition (HD) local channels from DIRECTV are not available in your area at this time.

Also: Chan Ho Park? WTF!

Long Overdue Post

I have no excuse for why I haven’t really posted anything here for a while. As usual, a bunch of stuff to say, no motivation to do it.

First, I have started off my BlackBerry programming with two applications for the Pearl: AutoLock, which automatically activates the keyguard when the display idle timer kicks in to turn off the screen, and SoftReset which simply provides an easy way to reset the device without requiring a battery pull. They’re both free (but I take donations!) and can be found here: BlackBerry Software. Now that I’ve got things figured out, I’m definitely going to get started on some poker results tracking software soon.

Second… I have soft water at home! It rules. No more calcium deposits in the shower, in the sink, on the dishes, and shaving is soooo much more comfortable. Photoblog image here.

Third: 6 days until Pitchers and Molinas (er.. catchers)! 8 days before the Mets staff has to report.

Enough with the counting. Bowling has continued to go fairly well for me this year, though I did have a few off nights (503 over three games, 701 over four games), last night I had another good series:

X   X   X   X   819/9/X   6/XX9
306088107116135155175195224
9/8/X   X   X   X   X   X   7/8/X
18386898128158185205223243
X   X   X   X   X   X   9/9/9/9/8
306090120149169188207226244
Series: 711   Average: 237.0

Two months, two 700s. I’ll take that. Still looking for another honor score (298, 299, 300, 800, or 11 in a row), though. Also, had this a few weeks ago:

8/X   X   9/9/X   X   9/9/9/9
20496988108137157176195214
X   9/9/8/81X   9/X   X   X9-
2039577584104124154183202
X   X   X   X   X   X   7/X   7/X9/
306090120147167187207227247
X   X   X   X   9/X   X   X   8/7/9
306089109129159187207224243
Series: 906   Average: 226.5

I don’t often throw 900 over four games, though I’m sure I’ve done it a few times in the past. Very happy about it. The Palm Z22 is holding up very well for recording my bowling scores with Frames. The lower resolution doesn’t bother me at all for what I’m using it for, and the battery life is terrific. This week I plugged it in for the first time since I started using it at the bowling alley. That’s almost a month without a recharge.

I want an LED mooninite. I may have to resort to making my own. Might be fun. I’ll leave off with this video of a government agency trying to track down the mooninite terrorists:

Snap Preview Anywhere

I was browsing around the web the other day (surprise!) and came across a cool new service. Snap Preview Anywhere lets you have popup previews of websites on links on your website. It’s pretty neat, and was really easy to set up, and is (at least for the moment) free. I set up my site to preview any external link; links to other pages on my site won’t show previews, but I may at some point change that. I’m undecided on it right now. You can see a demo by moving your mouse over the link to the site in this post.

Weekend Plans

My plans for the weekend. Likely, very few of these will actually get done. And it’s a short list to begin with, plus a three day weekend. Damn laziness. And one of them involves playing a video game.

  • Dive into BlackBerry programming. Try to write a SoftReset app for the Pearl, and also start working on my Poker Journal replacement.
  • Actually start playing Zelda for the Wii. I’ve had it for over a week, and haven’t done anything past the herding goats.
  • Return/replace a pair of jeans that are too small (even though they’re the same style and size as a pair that fits!) and maybe get a few more.
  • Set up Frames on my new Palm Z22, and move all my data over from my Treo. List my old Treo(s) on eBay.

Yeah, that’s really it. Likely, what I’ll actually do is play Wii Sports and Guitar Hero II all weekend instead. And eat, and sleep. Maybe watch some TV.

And the winner is…

HD-DVD.

Las Vegas (NV) – Knowing their audience quite well, the adult entertainment industry holds their annual get together in Las Vegas to coincide with the CES. There is also a very pertinent crossover between the adult and tech industries – porn has a tendency to drive, and be driven, by technology. Which means HD DVD when it comes to high-def.

Downhill from here…

Bowling in 2007 got off to a pretty good start for me:

X   X   X   X   9-X   X   9/X   X7/
306089108117146166186213233
9/8/X   9/9/X   X   X   X   XXX
1838587797127157187217247
X   X   X   X   X   9/X   9/X   9/9
306090119139159179199219238
Series: 718   Average: 239.3

My third ever sanctioned 700 series. Nowhere to go but down, now. Also, threw 12 strikes in a row between the end of the second game and beginning of the third, but that doesn’t get me anything. Still, pretty happy with my start to the year. Hopefully, I can continue the good bowling tomorrow. I predict a nice 503. 🙂

Woo!
3097|725

Amazon yesterday had a message on the Wii page that they’d be on sale today between 7 and 11 AM PST. I sat in front of my computers for almost 2 hours before finally seeing the One Click order button appear, and clicking it. Thanks to Reload Every, all I had to do was just sit there and watch the screens. Four auto-reloading browser windows on three computers.

Now the wait for shipping…

Update: Shipped! Overnight, with Saturday delivery. I should have it tomorrow!

No Power

Power is out at home. Nothing to do.

Love the BlackBerry Pearl. :). Right now in IRC, on AIM, and using Google Talk. On the Treo, I couldn’t have done all of those things at the same time.

Oh, and posting on my blog. Awesome.
