Flip-Flop
Senator Zell Miller, 2001
http://miller.senate.gov/speeches/030101jjdinner.htm Good stuff. Found over at Wacky Neighbor Update: Much of what Miller said Kerry voted against, Dick Cheney, then secretary of defense, also worked to cut. Others, Kerry didn’t actually vote against. He voted against the Fiscal Year 1991 Defense Appropriations Act, which wasn’t a vote on those individual weapon systems. Just like Kerry voted against $87 billion in body armor for soldiers, with $20 billion of that earmarked for Halliburton. |

This is why it’s so hard to elect Senators as presidents. They have to take conflicting positions all the time and throw support behind things and people which they may not agree with in order to achieve some other politically desireable end.
All of this back and forth goes into the record and can be used against you when you try for the national “prize”.
That said, nothing Miller said during the RNC was wrong per se. It’s tough to be wrong when your speech amounts to a big rah-rah.
