Biggio’s just two HBPs shy of tying the record which has stood for 104 years. I got to see number 285 during the 17 inning marathon in Houston. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2938811. (0)
Mark Cuban submitted an application to buy the Chicago Cubs: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2934920. Sadly, the other owners probably won’t let it happen. I think it’d be great for baseball. (0)

Go for the Moon
Tonight’s the MLB All-Star game. I don’t particularly care much about it, but I’m sure I’ll watch it at Zodo’s tonight, just like I did last year. Last year, though, I did sort of have an interest in it. I was actually rooting for the AL to win (which they did). That made the first game in the NL park on Brad‘s birthday, and if not for the damn Cardinals, he would’ve had a surprise birthday trip to the World Series. Damn Yadier Molina. I’m not still bitter. Really. Tonight, I don’t care nearly as much. The Mets should make the playoffs, but don’t look nearly as dominant as last year. Or even as earlier this year. Plus, the surprise just wouldn’t be there this year, so it doesn’t matter that much. I suppose I have to root for the NL, because they play real baseball. Hopefully, at the very least, this year the game will be competitive. Maybe the NL can win for a change.

Good to be Home
Reno was a ton of fun, but I bowled horribly. Three 3 game series, 525-537-481. That’s around a 172 average. Ick. Bowled last night back at Zodos… 233-192-266 for a 691. It’s good to be back. 🙂 Tonight, more bowling. Tomorrow, I’m off to Austin to meet up with April, and then to Houston for some Mets baseball!

One hitter!
Not all that much to say lately. I got bored of online poker again pretty quickly, and when it’s boring, I lose money. I need to find a way to make it fun again. I need Badugi, dammit. The Mets are having a horrible June. They were like 6-14 before finally winning 4 in a row, sweeping the A’s and taking one game against St. Louis. Two days ago, they tied the game up in the bottom of the 9th only to lose in 11 innings, and last night they won a rain-shortened 5.5 inning game (Glavine CG SHO! One hitter! Win 297). Somehow, they still have a 3.5 game lead in the NL East. Last Saturday, I played disc golf for the first time. It’s a lot of fun, and a good way to get me outside. There’s a course pretty much right down the street from me, which is nice. I also played at Lake Casitas, which is about 45 minutes away, and a beautiful place. I’ll have to get back there sometime just to use my camera, not to play. This weekend, I’m heading up to Reno for the USBC Nationals. It’s on a tough oil pattern, and I don’t expect to bowl particularly well, but it’ll be fun. The league I’m in on Saturday mornings has been using the same pattern, and I’m averaging around 175 in it, which is pretty much what I expected. I’m driving up there with a couple of friends, instead of taking the bus that broke down, like I did three years ago. I guess that’s all I’ve got for now.

More Baseball
Went to the Dodger game again yesterday, a 7-5 loss to the Pirates. Fun game. Took some more pictures. Juan Pierre makes an error every time I point my camera at him in center.

Jackie Robinson Day
I went to the Dodgers/Padres game with Ryan and Wil last night. It was the 60th anniversary of Jackie Robinson’s first game in Major League Baseball. The pregame ceremonies were very well done, and it was overall a great tribute. Mike Cameron of the Padres, and the whole Dodger team wore Robinson’s retired number 42. The Dodgers won 9-3. I have pictures up in my gallery or a flickr set.

Fix the Blackouts Already
There’s no good reason for this. I have MLBEI (free preview), MLB.TV, and the game is on Fox. And I can’t watch it. Mets/Braves is only on Fox for the eastern half of the country. The west coast gets Dodgers/Giants. That makes sense, but there’s no good reason the other game shouldn’t be accessible to the other part of the country somehow. Fox fucking sucks. They have national games today, so EVERY game that might be on at the same time is on national blackout on MLB.TV, and not on MLBEI. I just want to watch my damn Mets games, I don’t care what channel it’s on or about protecting local markets. I want to watch my team. They need to fix this shit already.

3 down, 159 to go
The Mets started the season off right: with a three game sweep of the Cardinals. They outscored them 20-2 over the three games. Last night, John Maine allowed 1 hit through 7, the bullpen 1 hit through 2, Reyes homered, and Beltran homered twice for a 10-0 win. 159 games to go. Their next game is tomorrow at Atlanta, Oliver Perez against Mark Redman. As far as fantasy baseball goes, my two teams are already in the cellar, as expected. 🙂 MLB.TV is working out nicely, and I upgraded to the premium service for a higher quality stream, and the MLB Mosaic application which I can’t get to work in Linux. I’ll have to figure out what to do with that. Also, it seems I will be able to get MLBEI on cable after all, but don’t know if I will:
