Seriously…
They need to fix these fucking blackouts. I’m sitting here watching Mets/Marlins, after the Marlins just scored a run in the 9th to tie it up. The next game scheduled for this channel, starting 2 minutes ago, is Dodgers/Diamondbacks, but the Mets game isn’t over. 1:30 hits, blackout starts, in the bottom of the 9th, in a tie game, in a game that shouldn’t be blacked out. Fix this already! Update: It only took an inning, but the Mets/Marlins game is back on. Still, they should just do away with the blackouts altogether. It’s not like they actually protect the local broadcasters anymore, or whatever they’re supposed to do.
Oliver Perez threw 8 innings today, giving most of the Mets bullpen a much needed rest. He gave up 2 runs (1 earned), throwing 102 pitches, 70 for strikes. Aaron Heilman gave up a one-out double, but threw a scoreless 9th. The Mets won 7-2. (1)

Stupid Blackouts
Dear Fox and MLB, Screw you and your Saturday afternoon national blackouts. It’s not going to make me watch whatever game happens to be on the local Fox station. Hell, the game I want to watch is on Fox in NY, but there’s no amount of money I can pay to anyone to let me watch it here. I guess I’m stuck listening on XM, where unlike MLBEI and MLB.tv (of which I have BOTH), I can actually get EVERY out of market game. Sincerely, Edit: The Angels/Mariners game is in rain delay, so for the time being I actually get to watch the game I want. Keep raining in

everybody wants a rock
Well, I can cross one item off the list below. I bought the 160 GB iPod Classic yesterday. It’s nice, though I have no idea what I’m going to do with all that space. It will probably get used as portable backup storage while I’m away from home. Unfortunately, Apple seems to have changed the database format with these new iPod models, so all the non-iTunes programs that used to work on Linux and Windows are now broken. I tried to use Anapod Photosync (running in Linux, under wine) to put a few pictures on it. When it was done, scrolling to the Photo menu option would cause the iPod to lock up. If I clicked, to go to the photos, before it locked up, it would just reboot instead. Oops. Hopefully, the database format will get reverse engineered soon and some of these programs will start working again. (Note: I don’t believe Apple did this to intentionally make these programs break. There were probably good reasons for it.) So, that’s one item off the list. Actually, after I posted that list I remembered something else I meant to add. The Delphi XpressRC. The headset/line out jack in the XM I have my car is dying, and it was just in general due for an upgrade. It looks like I won’t be getting that, though, because… I’ve decided I need to get a new car instead. I just had to bring mine in, again, because the check engine light was on. Repair of some stupid sensor was around $400, and it just seems like it’s getting more expensive to maintain than is worth it. It looks pretty beat up at this point, my speakers or some other part of my sound system is dying, and I’ve had to bring it in several times in the past few months. My next car will almost definitely have a built in XM radio, which is why I no longer need to buy that other one. I’ve sort of tentatively started looking around at stuff online, but haven’t really narrowed anything down yet. A couple of weeks ago, I was in a violent sort of mood. I’d been wanting to redo the closets in my bedroom for a while, so with nothing else to do, I took my hammer to the shelves that were in there. It felt good. Last weekend, I finished up one half of the closet. Pictures on flickr, here and here. There’s another closet the same size right next to it, which I’ll get to eventually. Tonight, I’m driving to LAX, and then flying to JFK on Virgin America. Tomorrow night, I go to a wedding. Sunday afternoon, hopefully to Mets/Phillies at Shea, and then I have a 7:30 PM flight out. I’ll be in New York/New Jersey for under 36 hours, if you don’t count time spent in JFK. I get back to LAX Sunday night at 10:30 and then have to drive back to Santa Barbara. Fun. If the Mets sweep the weekend, their magic number can drop to 5.

Sweep! The Mets somehow just swept Atlanta in a three game series at Turner field, coming off a series where they were swept by the Phillies in a four game series. Nice way to bounce back. If the score in Florida holds up, the Mets will have increased their lead in the division back to four games. Amazing. For the next three days, I unfortunately have to root for Atlanta against the Phillies.
Go Mets! (0)
The Mets just lost 11-10 to the Phillies, to get swept in a four game series. They were behind 5-0 and tied it up, and then behind 8-5 and took a 10-8 lead, but couldn’t hold on. I was having flashbacks to Game 6 of the 1999 NLCS the whole time, and actually expecting it to end on a bases loaded walk, not a walkoff single. They’re now only 2 games up in the division, and have a series against the Braves, who they can’t beat, coming up. Not good. (2)

Good Weekend
For a weekend I had planned to do absolutely nothing, I got a whole lot done.
It was the most relaxing weekend I’ve had in months.
Why can’t Billy Wagner get anyone out anymore? Dodgers have the tying run at the plate with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th. Update: Whew. Game over, Mets win. (0)
