It had been at least seven years since I’d had a shot of tequila, and now I remember why. It’s gonna be at least another seven. (0)
Barry Bonds just (finally) hit home run #755, off Clay Hensley. Earlier today, Alex Rodriguez hit #500 off of Kyle Davies. (0)
The White Sox scored 8 runs (3 earned) off of Roger Clemens in the top of the second inning, to knock him out after 1 2/3. The Yankees responded with 8 runs (all earned) in the bottom of the second, all off of John Garland, knocked out after recording only 4 outs. A-Rod still homerless. (0)
Got back from the Giants/Dodgers game about an hour ago. Bonds went homerless, still stuck on 754. The boos alone at Dodger Stadium were worth the price of admission. The Giants bullpen blew my Lincecum win. Damn fantasy baseball. Other baseball stuff: The Yankees have hit 13 home runs in the past 2 games, none of them A-Rod’s 500th. Still stuck on 499. Texeira homered in his first game for the Braves. Dammit. Mets beat the Brewers 8-5 today, still have too close for comfort 3.5 game lead in the East. (0)
I read over at Lifehacker that disabling Google Talk within Gmail significantly speeds it up. Since I do all my chatting with gaim (now Pidgin) anyway, I went ahead and did that. I did like the sound it the Gmail-embedded Talk made when I got a message, though. A quick search found them: Google Talk Sounds. Now, I’ve got gaim set up to play the same sound whenever I get a new conversation-starting message. It’s gtalk1.wav inside the zip file. (0)
I saw this linked somewhere: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/6412. It makes Google Reader embed the actual web page from a blog post in the list view, instead of the content of the feed. From there, I found http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/8561, which is a modification of it to exclude certain feeds from doing that. I grabbed that one, and modified it myself to include specific feeds instead of exclude. Now, when I click the Penny Arcade feed, I actually see the comic (and whole page) right in my Google Reader instead of having to click through to it. Sweet. Requires Firefox, Greasemonkey. (0)
The Mets managed to hold off the Dodgers last night and win 13-9. The combined line for the starting pitchers, Tom Glavine and Derek Lowe: 5 IP, 20 H, 4 BB, 14 ER, 0 K. The Mets made three errors, the Dodgers one. In total, there were 35 hits in the game, including 5 homeruns. Box Score. (0)
Search your Google Reader subscriptions with Greasemonkey script: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/7062. Found on Lifehacker. (0)
Biggio’s just two HBPs shy of tying the record which has stood for 104 years. I got to see number 285 during the 17 inning marathon in Houston. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2938811. (0)
Mark Cuban submitted an application to buy the Chicago Cubs: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2934920. Sadly, the other owners probably won’t let it happen. I think it’d be great for baseball. (0)
